Rho Omega and Friends Goals for 2008 include:

  • Increase scholarship funds to deserving high school seniors
  • Continue to provide assistance to various organizations and needed individuals
  • Provide mentoring to youth through sports and information sessions
 


Mission Statement

Rho Omega and Friends, Inc., a corporation created by the Rho Omega Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., exists as an independent non-profit corporation chartered by the State of Louisiana and granted an exemption under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.

The foundation was created on December 23, 1994 to accommodate the Fraternity's commitment to provide charitable, educational and civic programs and services to those in need in the Shreveport, LA community. In keeping with that stated mission, Rho Omega and Friends, Inc. will devote its time, effort and resources to the creation, planning and implementation of activities and operations specifically designed to uplift the community; and thus, improve the quality of life for its residents and provide scholarships to college bound students.

Programs

Funds raised are used to operate the following programs, award scholarships and maintain the Omega Social Action Center. We invite you to assist us in our efforts by contributing funds to our following programs. They include:

  • Project Manhood –Program to build social and survival skills in high school males
  • Education 1 st Choice - Program to assist an inner city elementary school and supply kids with needed school supplies.
  • Let the Good Times Roll Festival – Largest African American Music and Arts Festival in North Louisiana
  • Community Youth Athletic Program – Financial and coaching support for city youth groups.
  • Golf Tournament-Program to award an individual for community involvement and scholarship fundraiser
  • Community Essay Contest-Program to stimulate the minds of youth to research and write an essay on a committee selected topic. Winners are given monetary awards.
  • Project Uplift – Various programs organized to help within the community.
